Chiropractic Adjusting Techniques
Every patient is different. Different conditions and symptoms can require different types of adjustments. We offer both manual and light force adjusting techniques to help meet each patient's need.
Dr. Brock and Dr. Krista are trained in a state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves and helps to decrease problems resulting from scar tissue and muscle overuse.
Kinesiotape is applied over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused or tired muscles, and support muscles in movement on a 24-hour-a-day basis. The taping is non-restrictive and allows for full range of motion- a benefit specifically sought for athletes.
Just a few examples of conditions that benefit from Kinesiotape include rehabilitation from sports injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome, lower back strain/pain (subluxation, herniated disc), knee and shoulder conditions.
Children are as susceptible to trauma in their spines from various activities just like adults. These microtraumas can cause abnormal joint motion in the spine, and therefore decrease their bodies’ ability to function normally.
Chiropractic care have been shown to help effectively treat colic, ear infections and even asthma in infants. Early detection of abnormal joint motion can help prevent these issues and future spinal issues such as pain and scoliosis.
Chiropractic care for children uses very specific, gentle techniques and on the very young, the adjustment is as light as a finger touch.
Common symptoms we help in our office include:
Chiropractic Care for Athletes
Athletes can experience many different benefits from receiving chiropractic care. Not only can adjustments help when treating injuries from high-impact sports such as wrestling, football, and hockey, but they offer other benefits as well. It’s been shown that high-impact sports can place the same amount of strain on the body as an auto collision.
Athletes getting routine adjustments may notice improved athletic performance, improved range of motion (especially in endurance athletes), better flexibility, increased blood flow, and may suffer from fewer injuries. Because spinal adjustments will reduce the irritation of the nerve roots between the vertebrae, the healing time from minor injuries can be shortened, improving performance.
Both high-impact and low-impact athletes can benefit from routine spinal adjustments. For high-impact athletes, it increases performance and flexibility and lowers the risk for injury; for low-impact athletes (golfers, tennis players, and bowlers), routine adjustments can help relieve the strain that is being placed on the body. Chiropractic care offers a natural way to treat and prevent many different ailments that often plague athletes.
Webster Technique/ Prenatal Chiropractic
Chiropractic care is essential for the pregnant mother. The mother's spine and pelvis undergoes many changes and adaptations to compensate for the growing baby. The goal of chiropractic care is to establish balance in the mother's pelvis.
Additionally, these compensations to her spine and pelvis during pregnancy are likely to cause an imbalance to her pelvic muscles and ligaments. If the bones of the pelvis are out of alignment, this will directly affect the way the uterus will be supported and can limit the baby's movement. This can prevent them from getting into the best position for birth, thus leading to longer, more painful labors.
The Webster Technique effectively treats these misalignments and imbalances in a safe and effective way. Dr. Krista is certified by the ICPA to provide the Webster Technique to patients.
